alot of things happened this past week

on mon, received our o level chinese results. i really wanna thank God that i scored a b3 and i know that this is kind of unexpected coz i estimated only got low b4 and many in my class did well! so praise God!

then went for english oral. a little nervous but not as nerve-wrecking as chinese oral. so went in startled a bit coz i needed to settle down n i guess i had some ideas in saying about the picture as well as the conversation. the examiner looked quite impressed so the confidence level in me was high when i left the examination room.

on tues had band rehearsal at victoria concert hall , and the guest conductor dr gillian mckay came to rehearse. i would sae its my worst playing n my instrument was really airy... but thank God on concert day itself it went well except that i miss one note...

on wed woke up and set off to vch for band... it was concert on wed. the gate was locked when i reached there at 0815 and it only opened at 0830. started to tune and warm up. so also practiced songs and then it was the last time before matinee concert that i was going to conduct the band.... the last part of stayin' alive which i was supposed to do came out mechanical despite friends teaching me and practicing with them....

and during matinee it juz ran through my head when that time was coming and i really thanked and appreciate all those who gave me this support to conduct as a student conductor. and i managed to put that action in the end. though i was nervous initially during danse bacchanale, i went on to the stage confidently smiling all the way.... lol . and i believe smiling throughout helps alot. it broke my nervous hands.

after that had burger for dinner and my throat was not feeling real well since national day... but still can play and talk well la... erm . had photo-taking on stage and we lift our instruments real high up to take a photo...haha

so concert was to begin , after the bell rang, evan as concert master started to tune the band and well it started... my very last concert!

danse bacchanale started with an oboe solo. though there was some minor mistakes in that solo due to breyann's nervousness the song managed to pull through and the song went real well . i would say.

hanover festival the piece played for syf which attained us a gold went well too and the balance was there.

lux aurumque (light and gold) went well under the baton of dr.gillian mckay. the previous day practice for me was horrible and everyone looked up at her to watch her tempo. and i would say it was nice but people who did not understand this choir piece thought it is boring and not nice.

soon it was my time to conduct the band. and i juz want to thank mr lin for giving me this chance to conduct even though i wasn't the one that supposed to conduct based on position. so came out quite confidently (thank God i had a preparation chance to conduct during matinee... so roughly got experience already) . started off quite okay with i need to be in love with breyann as a saxophonist solo and i can sense that i enjoyed myself up that conducting the band. breyann enjoyed himself and though at times the band overpowered his solo, and he could not be heard at times but i guess the song went real nice that people really enjoyed it!

the next song stayin' alive the last song before the interval kicked up well and i had fun too moving and probably dancing on the pulpit while conducting. it was really lively with the spotlights up and down and every band member performing their best and enjoying themselves. zachary went up and started to dance... i mean he really can dance... and people said he stole the limelight. i guess this performance is really unforgettable and the song finished off with each row standing consecutively and i doing a stunt of turning and facing the crowd pointing my right hand towards the sky ... like those in the 1970s disco dance. and though it was quite a simple action, it took me quite a while to really overcome this fear of not being pai seh and people do know that this isn't my genre and this isn't the real me... i m often those that is quiet and not so enthusiastic. so this ended the first half with a bang! and it was well done despite getting faster for stayin' alive due to my excitedness perhaps!

the second interval started off with the vocal ensemble and we had some time to slack at the backstage. i saw some members buying this drink of apple juicy - and decided to drink it. it was real nice. many members bought it that we lay a row of apple juice drinks on the stairs. nice though its really apple but not red. the bottle is green in colour.

percussion ensemble next and later on the band played main street celebration and for the fallen , the latter being dedicated to 911 victims.
conducted by alumnus jeremy chua, we played quite well and it wasn't as loud as we had rehearsed in the morning.

miss saigon was the finale. though it started off unsteady with the clarinets rushing and piano uncertain, it went well later and though there were hiccups in the middle of the song, the song pulled through.

encore was pirates of caribbean and i guess people enjoyed it.

we gave mr chan and mr lin some gifts ... a bugs bunny and syvelster cat respectively as well as some flowers..

so i guess this concert would be not a really bad one for me... as its my last concert and though i regretted not inviting more people, it was a really unforgettable experience!

today after sch my chinese teacher gave us a treat - pizza to the class for doing well in our o level chinese. the pizza came half an hour late but we had a great time of fellowship though.

anw, prelim is in 10 days time and soon o level.

thank God for everything and God is just teaching me to continue to trust Him in everything i do!
